Data Science Holodeck is timely research and application of emerging technology. The raise of big data, artificial intelligence and immersive virtual technologies drives creation of both innovative business models, data science practice, educational environments, and dissemination
scenarios – in general. Based on our experience in following the dominant trends, teaching data and visualization related courses, and collaborating with enterprises, we have identified significant data perception challenges, which both learners and IT business users meet, while building trust and understanding in implementing these technologies.
In this pre-study, we research possible solutions, and aim to develop a technological platform prototype, which can support data perception, handling, and analytics insights. The achievements, we expect, yield the necessary knowledge, skills and instruments to facilitate the creation of a road map for a larger research and development (FoU) follow-up project. Project outcomes would benefit the

The context and the objectives of the project go in line with the strategy and current plan of development of our department. We will develop it in collaboration with a business partner and students’ participation. Risk estimation: no foreseeable risks are involved, in that all which is learnt from the PoC can be transferred to other VR HD systems. The only risk could be in the realm of IP, license issues and other legal constraints and liberation.
Further strategic facilitation: we see a direct potential in the coupling of Maker Lab (CBA/Lyngby) with our proposed platform. We will have the opportunity to couple the physical world, through sensors, devices – gereally – and 3D printing, with the virtual (programmable, synthetic, world), directly. “Maker Lab meets augmented reality”.
